Box 22. Russell Kan. Apr 1779 My Dear Sister Ellen Your kind letter came safely to hand the other day. Containing P.O order for twenty five dollars which I have laid aside for the purpose intended. Was very glad to hear all are well - We all keep in good health Although there has been a great deal of sickness with the new comers, hard living seems to be the chief trouble I think - We had a very fine rain on Easter Sunday and Monday - the grass is large enough for grazing and the herds are on the prairie. There has been a great deal of corn planted
