Cut your Bread & Butter very thin & put a Layer in your Dish; then strew some Currants well wash'd & pick'd over it; then put another Layer of Bread & Butter, so on to make it of a proper consistency according to the Depth & Size of your Dish, putting currants over every Layer of Bread; have your Milk, Eggs, and Sugar with a little Salt and Nutmeg beat up together and pour over the Bread and Currants into your Dish - So bake it -
