Sponge Cake Take 12 Eggs, 1 lb powdered loaf sugar, 1/2 lb of flour, break your eggs, take half the whites away, then divide the other half from the yolks let them be well beaten, with a whisk, put them together, let your sugar be made very fine then add it to your eggs a little at a time continuing to beat them all the time, then add your Flour. This Cake requires to be beaten 1 hour. If the oven is fierce 1 hour will bake it. Mrs. Garnham Ginger Beer Take an earthen pot, sufficently large to hold the quantity you purpose making. Put in 1 lb of lump sugar 1 oz Cream a Tartar 1 oz ground ginger the peel of 1 lemon have them all ready in the pot, put 1 gallon of boiling water over them, stir it up only once let it stand untill the warmth to set beer to work add the juice of the lemon, and 1 spoonful of
