-12- and the stone fences and green pastures and nice houses. We had several meetings on shipboard. We had a meeting with the passengers at the hotel in Liverpool: all of these to good satisfaction. We crossed England on the cars to Hull. Then crossed the North Sea 500 miles, to Stavanger, Norway. We were taken to Friend's meeting house; and were furnished with all necessary accomodations. We attended the yearly meeting there; and visited families in the city. We went to Roiseland, Ida's birth place; where we had many favored meetings. The people came in long rows over the mountains, and on the side of the mountains. They seemed to appreciate our company. Ida spoke more than an hour; the Gospel flowed freely, and many were tendered and wept freely; and said to us: "I know the Lord sent you here." Then they slowly moved to their quiet homes. Roiseland is a place where a few families live near each other, and are surrounded by high and lofty, rocky mountains, 500 hundred or 600 feet high. We took a walk this morning amongst high and silent rocks, and saw far away in various directions. This is the grand work of the Creator's hand. The scenery in Europe is grand
