Dudley .. Iowa Jan 28th 150 Dear Sister Harriett I red. Fathers letter by James on to day and was sorry hear of the accident that happened to mother, and hope that it is not so bad as you supposed. I know not how you all get along with the Old Folks both Cripples and will require a great deal of Care and you are hardly able to take care of your self your only Chance is to get Charly to assist you.. father spoke as though he would like for both of us to come home in the Spring no one would like to come better than [illegible] but it will hardly possible circumstanced as we both are.. James Partnership will prevent him from coming before next fall, as his partner leaves next week for Cincinnati.. and he will have to stay of course.. My Partner and I have dissolved the our business and he leaves in March and if I do any thing here we will have to stick to the [Toil?].. My part of the practice amounts to near two hundred and thirty Dollars... well I have got a stock of medicine, paid my board, paid thirty Dol on a house and got fifty Dol in notes [but?] not much doing in the practice.. I assure you
