Dudley, Iowa July 10th. 150 Dear Sister, having nothing to do to day and feeling Some what blue and know not how to get clear of them except it is by penning you a few lines all though having nothing to inform you of that will be - interesting to you, yet you can make the most of it. when I tell you there is nothing to do in my line of business it easily explains the cause of my having the [Lowest?] there never has been Such universal health as now prevails over the Country not only here but Else where and Combined with the good state of health. Our town has become nearley vacated being but two families [illegible] of course we have no company except as we go where is Squally times, The fourth of July we spent at a little town four miles below here, at Lafayett where there was a free dinner, and perhaps a thousand people speeches & toasts were the order of the day. It was enjoyed pretty well as I had my friend Miss Parkes with me. She has been on a arsit D Dudley for a week past untill Sunday last I went with her home, I am going to start this evening for Oskloosa have never herd from Hogans family, as yet except that they was all sick. I will be gone some three or four days. not been from home more than one day since last January and of cours feel like leaveing
