long letter while she was in Des Moines. she has been writing to Minnie today. I have commenced making a rag carpet Emma & Cora make two balls a day. That is between them. it will keep them out of mischief they are not going to school they study at home I do not know but they will learn as much as if they went to school for the school is so full the teacher cannot do justice by the scholars. Matt has gone home Father wanted her to come back. She writes that she is much pleased with the place I am in hopes she will. We have not heard from James for some time he thinks of leaving Fort Dodge he says it is to cold he cannot stand it so far north,
