Bay and saw the launching of the Ohio. It was a magnificent sight. Hundreds, or I guess thousands of boats of every size and description gaily trimmed with flags and bunting lay at rest near the place of launching The Iowa, the Phila, and the Wisconsin loomed up above all the rest and waited for their new sister. Promptly at the appointed time the signal was given and the great hulk slid out into the water; then such a mighty cheer and salute of guns as there was. The President's boat headed the naval parade back to the city. We found a lovely grassy place and ate our lunch and spent the greater part of the the after -
