Dear Wife, You will have to be contended with a very brief epistle this evening as I am tired and have but little to write about. We have not begun regular work yet, but I went through the toughest experience to day that I had yet. This morning we went by train 6 miles north of this point, and I walked back over the line to reset the stakes. The road at this point was surveyed in the winter, and the ground being frozen, the ax man could not drive the stakes, in most places.
