August the 27th 1898 Heplar Kansas Well, i take my seat to drop you a few lines in ansore to them that i received from you & was glad to hear from you for I was a wating very pachiently to hear from thar for when i roat up at Jims i hadent got your letter that you roat to me on the 2 of July for Jim & i left his new home on the very day that John got hurt & when we com to heplar i got out & went in the ofice to sea if thare was eny thing for me but i found nothing & when you roat to me i was about 50 miles a way from heplar so i didn't git it on till i com back & that was the 20 of July & i was surpries to hear of
