3 In 1907, Coe College girls desirous of forming a club, were advised to consult the Cary Club as it was thought to have the best constitution and by laws of any club in the state. In early years, a critic was appointed at each meeting, later a critic was appointed for the year and still later general criticisms were given. This custom has not been followed for a number of years. Beginning in 1910, credits were taken at each meeting. Credit being given for attendence, punctuality, quotation, news item, and taking part in the days program. Sometimes the losers would entertain the winners in some way. This custom was abandoned in 1909
