Marion Iowa April 6th 1908 The Cary Club met at the home of Mrs. Cook with six members present. As both our President and Vice President were sick Mrs. Brown presided. Miscellaneous quotations were given in response to roll call. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. On the question as to whether it would be advisable for the library board to spend $150.00 to help put manual training into the Marion public schools. Motion was made to that effect and lost. Mrs. Phelps then read "Sketch of Theodore Roosevelt". Mrs. E.M. McKean not being present her work "Wonders of Our Country" was omitted. Current events were then given, and the club adjourned to meet in two weeks with Mrs. Alexander. Mrs. Brown Pres. Pro. Tem. Mrs. Pyle Secy. Quotations from Sydney Lenin were given in response to roll call. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Mrs. Dobson appointed critic. Business meeting resulted in accepting Mrs. Vouiser request to be placed on the retired list. Miss Mabel Alexander being away Mrs. Alexander gave "Sketch of Sydney Lanier and Poems". Mrs E.M McKean then read "Wonders of Our Country". Adjourned to meet in two weeks with Mrs. Dobson. Hostess then invited us to remain and served refreshments. Mrs. Alexander Pres. Mrs. Pyle Secy.
