236 Marion, Iowa Jan. 26- 1914. Cary Club met with Mrs Pyle, who as Vice Pres. acted as Pres. on account of the absence of our Pres. 13 members and two visitors responded to Roll Call. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The work for the day was then given as follows, Mrs Phelps gave a description of the Indians of the South and West, giving several new lines of thought. Mrs Winter then gave a very clear and interesting review of the book "Ramona" in which the characters were depicted so that all felt acquainted with them. After Current Events by all members the Club adjourned to meet with Mrs Bishop in two wks. Mrs Pyle Vice Pres. Mrs Waffle Sec. Marion, Iowa Feb. 9-'14 Cary Club met with Mrs Bishop. [&?] Thirteen members responded to Roll Call. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mrs Bishop gave an article describing the "Negro Problem in the South" Mrs Cross a selection from Booker T. Washington's book "Up from Slavery" and Mrs Pyle a general idea of the 1913 Negro Year Book. After Current Events, Club adjourned to meet in two weeks with Mrs Ives. Mrs Ives Pres. Mrs. Waffles Sec.
