251 Mrs. Alans read a very interesting paper on "The Origins of Thanksgiving. Mrs. Bailey told us of some of the customs of the first Thanksgiving's, which was very much enjoyed by all. Mrs. Pyle read a Thanksgiving story. After current events the club adjourned to meet Dec. 14. with Mrs. Cross. Mrs Shumack. Pres. Mrs. Bishop Sec'y. Marion Iowa. December 14, 1914. Cary Club met with Mrs. Cross. The Pres. Mrs. Shumack presiding. Thirteen members responded to Roll Call with Christmas quotations. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mrs. Brown made a motion the Bill for "Guest Day" be allowed. motion carried. Mrs. McKean reported having sent flowers to Mrs. Elson, who is ill in the hospital. Mrs Mentzer reported the meeting of the City & education Mrs. Mentzer volunteered to stay at the library the two Sundays allotted to the Cary club and also the two Sundays alloted to the Ameigo Club. on account of their being unable to supply anyone. Mrs. Bailey to go with her Dec. 13" Mrs. Pyle Jan 5." Our Study which was "Women of the Bible" was then taken up. Mrs. Bishop read a short sketch of Sara & Hagar. Mrs. Shumack of Lots wife and Rahah, Mrs. Davis of Delilah & Hannah, Mrs Cross of Jephtha's daughter Mrs. Mentzer of Vashti and Esther Mrs. Waffle of Elizabeth and Mary the Mother of Jesus, Mrs. Bailey Mary, Martha Mrs. Geo. Cook gave a sketch of the life of Rachel & Rebecca.
