1916 263 Jan 3d 1916 The Cary Club met at the home of Mrs Reichart. Eleven members present. New Years quotations were given in response to roll call. Minutes of previous meeting read & accepted. Mrs Shumack read a magazine article on South America. Mrs Ives "brushed" us up on bad or forgotten pronunciation. Current events followed. Adj - to meet in two weeks with Mrs McKean. Mrs Alexander, Secy. Mrs Bailey, Pres - Jan 17" Club met with Mrs Pyle instead of Mrs McKean. Ten members present. Roll call responded to with "wit & wisdom". Minutes of former meeting read and approved. The work for the afternoon was a book review by Mrs Waffle. Martha by the day - by Julia M Lippton It was a delightful story, well given & enjoyed by all. Current events discussed & adj to meet in two week with Mrs Griffiths. Mrs Alexander Secy. Mrs Bailey - Pres. Jan 31" Meeting opened with ten minutes present. It was decided to drop the guest day present & have the program of Feb 28" on Feb - 14", Mrs Brown gave us a review of her trip through the west, which was very interesting. Adj. to meet in two weeks with Mrs shumack. Carrie L. Reichart Secy pro tem. Mrs Bailey President. Feby 14" Cary Club met at the home of Mrs Shumack. Twelve member & one visitor present. Meeting opened by vice pres - Mrs Pyle, later the Pres - presiding - Roll call was answered by quotations from prominent educators, Minutes of previous meeting not read - but those of Jan 17 read & accepted. Mrs Mentzer gave a report of city Federation. Motion made me we propose names in two weeks for vacancy. Leading universities & Colleges in U.S given by Mrs Alderman & Winter. Showing the great advantages of education in our country. Adj. to meet with Mrs Winter. Mrs Alexander, Secy. Mrs Bailey, President.
