Tuesday Aug 21 1928 Our regular meeting was held at the Congregational Church. Mrs. MC Hess lead the devotional Mrs Robert Lincoln provided and spoke of the active temperance work of the mother of President Herbert Hoover Officers were elected Mrs Robert President Mrs. A.D. Alden Vice President Mrs Herbert Shaw Secretary Mrs John Lincoln Treasurer Mrs Mildred Hamilton gave a reading Annual reports from the departments were given Mrs Robert Lincoln President Miss Jeannie Bailey Narcotics Mrs Emma Barley and Mrs [Kettle?] saboth observence Mrs Effie Stocks child welfair Mrs. M.W. Richards [illegible] Mrs Comard Piece Mrs L.S. Soakes Benedict home Mrs. R.J. Hadley missionary and temperance Mrs M.C. Hess flowers Mrs Herbert Shaw [sec?] The WCTU pledged 5 tickets for [illegible] bill of 4.00 for flowers was alowed Chair to apoint [comitty?] Miss Jennie Barley Mrs Jenny Mrs Walter Neeley Good fellows was given 5.00 Mrs G.W. Richard gave 5.00 to Goodfellows Miss Jennie Bailey recived victory of election Sep 18 Miss Ella Kettle the head of cityzenship orginised a campain to take the dry vote of the city of Grinnell apointing a [chairman?] for each ward to canvas the city 2 meetings were held at the Congregational Church plans were made to distribute [literature?] Chairmen for the ward were elected Mrs Herbert Shaw first ward Mrs HA Jackson second ward Mrs H.P. Jacobs and Mrs ES Evens 4 Mrs [MG?} Hess third ward
