The W.C.T.U. meeting for April was held at the home of Mrs. [Ed.?] Lincoln Thursday the twenty-first. The scripture lesson was read by Mrs. German. This was followed by prayer by Mrs. John C. Lincoln. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Report of market day receipts was given by Mrs. John C. Lincoln. thirty-eight dollars and ninety-five cents had been received up to date. Interesting reports were given by two committees that had visited schools. Mrs. Fry reported for Cooper school and Mrs. Hess for Davis School. A very pleasing feature of this meeting was the taking in as recruit members the two daughters of Mrs. J.B. [Trye?], June and Gail. Mrs. John C. Lincoln receiving them in behalf of the organization. Miss June responded in a very sweet way expressing their appreciation of the ceremony and what it meant to them. At this time Miss [Florence?] Cole sang very beautifully "What Christ has wrought. Miss Harris then spoke on the subject of medical temperance. She showed very clearly the harmful effects on both mind and body. Aspirin is so easily obtained if used at all should be used with great caution. She stressed the teaching of children self control. In the discussion which followed much interest was manifest. Beautiful white Narcissus were given as favors by Mrs. Jesse [Lord?] from her country garden. Though a stormy day the attendance was good. It was moved and seconded that the organization give ten dollars to the Community Hospital [illegible]. Mrs. James McKee, Secretary
