The W.C.T.U. met Dec 20, 1932 with Mrs Walter J. Stewart at the Presbyterian Parsonage. Devotions were by Mrs Richards. Song. "W.C.T.U. Song of Praise" Song - "Carry On" Special Music. Prayers followed. Minutes of former meeting read and approved. Report of Program Committee by Mrs Hamilton. The press correspondent read a copy of her essay of 300 words which she sent to the contest of essays on the title "Qualifications of the Woman Leader" and also read a list of names which she had sent to the Poll of the Ladies' Home Journal for twelve American Women Leaders of the past century. the twelve receiving the highest votes to be accorded the honors at the Chicago World's Fair. She wrote the names of Ella A. [Boote?] and Ida B. Wise Smith in the list. Mrs. Watland moved that the W.C.T.U. vote the 300 word essay to be a fitting description of Ida B Wise Smith. The motion carried. Five Dollars was voted the the Good fellow Fund. Suggestions was made that we put posters in the store windows, the vacant ones being especially spoken of. The President appointed Mrs Mitchell and Miss Park a committee to attend to this. A letter was read from Ida B. Wise Smith urging that we get many new members before July. A life membership certificate was presented to Miss Park, who received it with a word of thanks. Rev. Fowler exhibited a paper called "The Voice". and read a few lines saying that was free cartoons could be obtained for use in the newspaper. The press correspondent was instructed to see about getting some put into the Herald. Rev. Fowler gave the address on 'Reconstructing Prohibition". Sermons on Prohibition needed to be rewritten. We need a campaign on educating the young people to the ills of the use of liquor. He expressed his confidence in the young people. Ada Park (Sect. pro tem)
