1934 The regular meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held March 20th with Mrs. George Murray as hostess. Devotionals were conducted by Mrs. E W Gregson reading as the Scripture lesson the 85th Psalm. Mrs Bouma sang the beautiful selection 'Come Unto Me" accompanied at the piano by Mrs Walker. Secretary's report read and approved for the Jan. and Feb. meetings. Miss Bailey reported the sending of communication to the Sec. and Pres. of [Radis?] Commission and receiving note of appreciation from them. Miss Bailey reported on Market Day Sale securing Central Meat Market for April 14th. The committee appointed to solicit each ward; 1st Mrs kearney, 2nd. - Mrs. Watland, Mrs George; 3rd. Mrs. Hess 4th. Mrs Stoakes, Mrs Mitchell. A discussion concerning placement of liquor stores. Mrs. R. Lincoln favored the suggestion that our Pres. communicate with member of liquor commission in Marshalltown. Mrs. Vratland moved Grinnell, W.C.T.U. ask cooperation of our State President, County Chairman, and [Divs?] Committees and that they be called to take action on signing petitions to keep our county free from a liquor store. Seconded by Mrs. George. Motion carried. Mrs. Robt Lincoln made the motion, seconded by Mrs. George, that the Secretary be asked to write a note to Mrs H.H. Fleener to show our love and thoughtfulness of her in her sorrow. Motion carried. Collection. Miss Butler then told of her trip to Regional Conference. Several of the best thoughts of the talks by Mrs Mann and Ida B Wise Smith were brought to us. Due to lack of time Miss Butler was unable to finish her report. Motion made by Mrs. Kearney, seconded by Mrs. Greyson that Miss Butler finish her talk at the next meeting. Motion carried. Mrs. Mitchell and Doris Kennedy sang "Come to the Church in the Vale." Meeting closed, with benediction. Mrs. George Lincoln - Sec.
