80 April 1934 The W.C.T.U. met at the home of Mrs C. G. GeorgeApril 17. Meeting opened with the singing of "This is My Father's World." Mrs Mitchell sang "Around the World". Mrs Robt Lincoln in charge of the Devotionals reminded us of the promise given by the administration if the 18th Amendment were repealed and that they had not been fulfilled. She read as the Scripture lesson selections from Proverbs, Habikuk, Ephesians and Romans as an answer to the promises. Mrs C S. George offered prayer. Secretary's report for March meeting read and approved. Miss Butler reported that no communication had been made with liquor commission a State Pres. thought it useless. Mrs C. S. George made motion that this W.C.T.U. communicate in some way with liquor commission showing we in Grinnell do not want a liquor store Seconded by Mrs Lincoln. Motion carried. it was decided that Sec. and Pres. send a communication to the liquor commission protecting placement of liquor store. Report of bake Sale. Taken in $24.21. Proceeds clear-$17.55 placed in bank. Rev. Inglis gave talk of the afternoon on the subject "Why Church should emphasize temperance instruction" After the collection was taken the meeting was closed by the benediction. Mrs George Lincoln-Sec May The May meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held at the home of Mrs H. H. Fluner. It was opened by the singing of two verses of the White Ribbon Rally Song. Mrs Wm Hamilton who had charge of the Devotionals kept the thought of "Mother" by the reading of the Scripture taken from Proverbs and Titus. She read an article on "Mother Love" and "What a home should be." Prayer was offered by Mrs J S Stoakes. Jane Huff and Anna Mae Schooby sand a duet "When Mother Prayed." Rev MacPherson gave a splendid talk on "Christian Mothers". The Misses Huff and Schooby again sang. Mrs Mitchell read parts of a letter from a cousin who is a Missionary in Africa.
