96 January 1935-continued we have had to take part of it out of the treasury. We suggested turning it over to the county, but no motion was made to that effect. Miss Edna Sherman spoke of a book she had read, "The Power House of Pathancott" by Miss Mary Jo Campbell. Miss Bailey called attention to the fact that the 17th of Jan. is Frances E. Willard birthday. Voted that we speak of it especially; but hold no extra meeting. An article by A. B. MacDonald in the January issue of the Christian Herald was read by Mrs. Earl Kennedy, a guest, at the special request of Mrs. Offie Stocks, ill in bed. The title was "Keeping Kansas Dry for Kansas Youth." Mrs. Kearney read an article, "One Year of Repeal" from the Christian Century of Nov. 7, 1934, by John Haynes Holmes, the speaker chosen to give the Gates lectures. A program arranged by Mrs. Mitchell was given by a dozen or more children. Mrs. H. W. Norris put on a playlet in which two girls took part. Chocatate candies were passed by the hostess. The president was at the state conference of pastors in Des Moines. Meeting adjourned. Ada Park, secretary. Minutes approved at Feb. meeting.
