-August 1935- The August meeting was held Aug. 27 at the congregational church. Mrs. Keaney lead in the devotions. She read the story of Nehemiah. Driven into Persia, he heard about his old house and wanted to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. He was allowed to for awhile. Then the king commanded the work to stop. He had to go away. Stayed away 12 years. Came back. Finished the work. We often wonder who the Nehemiah will be who will help us rebuild the prohibition wall. The minutes of the July meeting were called for but not found. Miss Butler [illegible] a protest was sent against a beer-advertising contest. She said 140 signed. All the churches made this protest available. There protests were sent to the state W.C.T.U. headquarters. Miss Bailey did not sent out ads. to Atlantic City. She did not want to make public the fact that our papers would print we advs. Mrs. Kearney read the report of the nominating committee: Pres. Miss Carrie A. Butler' 1st V.P. Mrs. W. J. Stewart 2nd V.P. Mrs. Edward Bokstedt 3rd V.P. Mrs. Will Schooley 4th " Mrs. E.C. Bliss 5th " Mrs. William Hamilton 6th " Mrs. G.O. Watland 7th " Mrs. Jesse Lord (Elizabeth) Treasurer Mrs. Robert Lincoln Mrs. German announced that the barrel was here. Miss Bailey moved that the president appoint a com. to advertise the aftermath. Mrs. Kearney was appointed to see to the window advertisements. Mrs. Stewart to see where to have the play. Miss Park to put notices in the papers. The vice president to distribute the complimentary tickets. The president, on behalf of the Union, presented Mrs. Kearney with a pin in token of our appreciation of her long years of service and loyalty, as he goes to California. Mrs. Lincoln paid Mrs. Hess $1.50 for a funeral bouquet. Ada Park-secy.
