148 May 1937 June 1937. The W.C.T.U. met May 18, 1937 with Ada Park. Eight were present. collection 55 c. Minutes of preceeding meeting were read and approved. Voted to pay bill of 75 c for setting out of the 3 trees. Voted that the secretary should send a card to Mrs. J. C. Lincoln at Linden, Kansas, as she is in poor health. Mrs. Hess reported that the floral com. had tied 40 large bouquets and 50 small bouquets and packed them all, with cards, in boxes, and sent them all to the children's home in Toledo. Voted to pay the bill of $1 15 for ribbon and .42 for express, total $1 75. June 1937- Mrs. Lincoln sent $50 00 for the centennial. We discussed locust trees. Honey locust is the kind we should get. It was the sentiment of the meeting that we ask the McDououghs for a honey locust, trees at Abel corner. Report was made that $17 00 had been added to the earlier sum of $32 00 from the bake sale, and that made it feasible for Mrs. Lincoln to send $50 00. Discussed dedication of trees. Mrs. Watland offered a bottle with a glass stopper as a container for an inscription to be buried beside one of the trees. Accepted her offer. Voted that Secy. should write [?] something to put in the bottle, Life Member Donor, First Memorial Member in the state, date of birth and death & other dates. Hostess Mrs. Stewart. Adj. Ada Park.
