Sept. 1940 Mrs. Mary Furber who has not been attending the meetings for a good many years because of domestic obligations, kindly opened her house for the meeting, and arranged many beautiful bouquets throughout the house; Mrs. Mitchell particularly expressed our gratitude for these efforts to add to our enjoyment. We voted to subscribe for The Crusader for Mrs. Mckean whohas taken Mrs. Parish's S.S. [clan?], and also has organized the Cub troop. Life membership was conferred upon Nellie Lincoln. Nellie Lincoln asked about blotters. $4.00 for several hundred. Voted to get their. For use three at the county. Edna Sherman read the names of those who have gone to the Better Lord recently: Miss Clara Boonnell Mrs. Edward A. Steiner Mrs. Alice Wheeler. Mrs Lincoln read a letter. Mrs. Vista Baker says [Searshors?] cannot hold a [enuty?] [illegible]. Says she will help. We decided to leave this to the pres. sec. and vice pres. Mrs. Lincoln suggests we wait a month till we have the money. Miss Sherman says Rev. Mann says bakesales take from the profits of the merchants. Minutes of the September meeting were approved.
