1944. 215 Jan. 1944. MRS. McBLAIN HOSTESS TO W. C. T. U. MEETING The Woman's Christian Temperance Union held the January meeting with Mrs. A. W. McBlain, Mrs. George E. Mitchell presiding. Mrs. Mary Swain presented the program on the topic, "War Time Prohibition." Miss Edna Sherman led the devotionals. Report was made that two buddy bags had been made and turned in to the Red Cross. The W.C.T.U. met Jan. 18, 1944 with Mrs. A. W. Mc Blain. Devotions were led by Edna Sherman. Program was presented by Mrs. Mary Swain. December minutes read and approved. Mrs. Mitchell reported that 2 Buddy Bags for sailors were made, filled, and returned to the Red Cross. We bought address books and an extra roll of hard candy instead of cigarettes and playing cards. Voted our annual contribution to regular funds, the Frances Willard, Lillian Stevens, Legislative, and Light Line. We mentioned that Mrs. Christina Lincoln has been an officer 30 years. Nellie Lincoln said if she served as treasurer she wanted us to elect another vice president. We said the vice president's duties should not rest upon her, but we would like to postpone election of a vice president till the regular time for voting for officers. Since Mrs. [Rerard?] and Mrs. Stewart both resigned after we elected them, and Nellie is serving as treasurer pro tem, it may be that Mrs. Christina Lincoln is still officially the treasurer, altho we did not formally re-elect her because she did not wish to serve. Suggestion was made but not put to a vote that we plan a reception for new members. No mention was made as to how recently a member must be in order to be honored by such a function. Ada Park - Sec. P.S. Mrs. Garnet Skiles and Mrs. Ralph Allen each pai $1.00 their first fee. Feb. 15 - 1944. The meeting was held with Ada Park. Mrs. Mitchell sang "Wind the Ribbon Round the Nations." Ada Park read the devotions. Mrs. Stewart presented the program which included an address by Rev. A. W. McBlain and readings by Mrs. Loose on the topic, Narcotics and Disease. Minutes of the January meeting were read and approved. Correction - the address February was given by Rev. George [Evane?]. Mrs. E. L. [McClure?] paid her first dollar. Mrs. Fleener said we ought to have a 1946-1947 – New Membership Roll on page 242
