220 1944. December 1944. Dec. 19 - 1944. Meeting was held with Mrs. A. W. McBlain. Devotions were led by Mrs. Dora Edgington. The leader was Mrs. Catherine Roffety. The subject was Spiritual Life. Mrs. Roffety emphasized the importance of keeping our bodies a fit temple for the spirit. Articles were read by Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Renfrow. Regarding Christmas, Mrs. Renfrow said, "We should have that holy feeling in our hearts." The first Prohibition - quiet - not shouting - orderly. Miss Sherman talked about the need for an L.T.L. Said, "We should pray to God to send us somebody to tell the children the harm (not the wickedness) that comes of drinking." Moved by Miss Sherman and (2nd) by Mrs. Roffety that the president appoint a com. to arrange for a day of prayer to be held Jan. 7th, 1945. Minutes of Nov. meeting read and approved. Report of treasurer - says, nearly all paid. Miss Sherman say Dr. Steiner has had an eye taken out. Letter from Hospital Auxiliary read. Mrs. Jackson consented to get hospital mending for the W.C.T.U. to do. Nellie Lincoln talked against the bill for peacetime conscription, because surroundings might not be moral. 51% of the transportation facilities taken up by beer, yet our boys lack ammunition. O'Daniel of Texas should receive letters of thanks. Old * * W. C. T. U. WILL MEET TUESDAY The Woman's Christian Temperance Union will meet at 2:30 o'clock on Tuesday, Dec. 19, with Mrs. A. W.
