September 1948, the First Meeting of the year 1948-1949 The WCTU met Sept. 21, 1948 with Mrs. Skiles. As the program leader, Mrs. Jackson, was ill, and the devotional leader, Rev. Donald Skiles, was out of town, these two parts were assumed by the secretary, Ada Park. As some had to leaver early, the business meeting was held first. Mrs. McBlain talked about the Family Night potluck to held in October. Decided to ask new teachers to come, especially for slide films to be given by Mrs. Marie Cox of Newton, Chairman of Visual Education in Jasper County. Her address is Mrs. Marie Cox, 736 North 2nd Ave. E-Newton, Ia. Mrs. McBlain urged that we all "bring someone with us". Suggestion was made that a membership com. be appointed, as November is the month stressed to get new members. Aug. 10-1948 to July 1949 The duration of membership campaign. The following were appointed on the membership com: Mrs. Skiles, Mrs. Lela Adams, Mrs. Manson. Our first recruit in this campaign is Mrs. Arnold Sevenbergen (Winnifred) 816-1st ave. Tel. 4518. She pays her $1.00. In Marshalltown, Oct. 12-13-14, the State Convention. We should elect a delegate. Voted to send Mrs. Allen. Suggestion was made that the items in the Herald Register telling that a Potluck would be held should have the notice appended that November is dues-paying month, and that dues may be brought to the meeting. The Secretary displayed the packet and Program guide, and told that program guides had been ordered, some already filled out with names and places, and given out for distribution. Ada Park - secy
