September 1949 (continued) At the business session, the minutes of previous meetings were called for, read, amended and accepted. The treasurer's report of August meeting was read and approved. The treasurer's annual report was read and approved. Report was made that the Herald-Register will publish our meetings in one issue only. The members of WCTU were asked to say whether they preferred having the notice in the Thursday issue or the Monday issue. Some said Monday, because a Thursday notice could easily by forgotten by Tuesday. The vice presidents representing the various churches said the Thursday issue, so they would think to have the announcement made in their church at the Sunday service. It was voted that the announcement be in the Thursday issue until the post cards are printed which will be sent each month to the vice presidents and some other members who have special responsibilities regarding the meetings. Because Rev. and Mrs. Bartow would be out of town the last two weeks of October, it was voted that the Family Night get-together which was scheduled to be in their home October 19th, be set one week earlier, which would be Wednesday October 12th. This date would conflict with the State Convention in Fairfield, but it was believed that on account of the distance and poor bus connections, very few members would be planning to go to Fairfield. The electing of officers for the year September 1, 1949 to September 1, 1950, was completed at this meeting. The officers are: President, Mrs. A. W. McBlain. Treasurer, Nellie, Lincoln. Secretary, Ada Park. Vice Presidents, Mrs. Charles O. Whitely, Mrs. J. R. Bartow, Mrs. Emory Alexander, Mrs. Mae Fleener, Miss Mabel Morgan, Mrs. W. J. Stewart, Mrs. Donald Skiles. Mrs. McBlain appointed the heads of departments as follows: [clipping] The W.C.T.U. will meet Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with Mrs. Harlan Inman, 1927 West St. * * * [end clipping]
