1953 Mar 17 Honary Member nite Observed By The WCTU In the home of Mr and Mrs J E Alexander was well attended. In the abstance [sic] of The President, The Vice President Mrs. McBlain presided. She opened the meeting by singing Jeuses [sic] Lover Of My Soul. The meeting was conducted by the Honary Members. Devotional service was conducted By A B [Mansan?] Followed by talks By The Rev Chas Whitely On Skid Row In Detroit City The Rev R Casand On Dynamic for 1923, Rev G E Skiles on Why I am alarmed and The Rev W J Stewart Examples in National Encouraging on Life Reports[.?] On Memberships, for the past year In the WCTU show a net gain of over 29,000 In the national organization. One member was added to The Honary organization. Refreshments of fruit juice and cookies were served By the Hostess, assisted By Miss Nellie Lincoln. 24 members present. Meeting adjourned with Prayer by Mrs. McBlain. Eva M Pepoon, Secretary Apr 21 W.C.T.U. met at The home of Mrs. Clint James with 13 members and one guest. In the absents [sic] of The Prisident [sic] Mrs Stanley The Vice President Mrs. McBlain presided. Mrs Adams had charge of Devotionals. She read Mathew [sic] 20:1-7 followed by all singing Throw out the Life Line. Also a Parable, Why stand Idol [sic] all Day. Mrs Allen had charge of the program. She gave a very interesting program on Building for total Abstanance [sic] Through Youth organizations. Mrs. McBlain, useing [sic] the study book Why repeal prohibition The Truth about repeal. Secretarys [sic] report read and approved. Treasurers reported $31.67 balance. Adjourned by all repeating the WCTU Benediction. Eva M. [Pepoon?], Sect. May 19 W.C.T.U. met at the Home of Mrs. John Russell, with 6 members present. Mrs. Whitley had charge of Devotions. Scriptuer [sic] Mat 5:16 - II Cor 3:18. Mrs Skiles had chg of the program useing [sic] for her subject, Is [T.V.] Good or bad on Children minds: Yes? It's bad. So much crime & drinking. A portion of Now & Then on the repeal of the 18th Amendment was read by Mrs. McBlain. One Honary member Mr John Russell joined the WCTU. Collection 94 c[ent]. Mrs. Rachel Mikel Sect. Pro Tem.
