September Meeting (continued) the State W.C.T.U. Meeting at Osage, Iowa. Meeting closed with Aaronic Benediction Grace L. Foster Sec New members Mrs. Epler - Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Burr, Mrs. Claude Thompson - Claude Thompson, Rev. and Mrs. Pohlenz October Meeting W.C.T.U Family night New members WCTU Family Night On Monday of this week ladies of the WCTU entertained family members at a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m., in First Friends church. Three new members were welcomed into the organization and re Rev and Mrs. Kenneth Pohlenz, and Claude Thompson. A program with devotions, slides and a talk on temperance by Rev. Pohlenz occupied the evening. Mrs. Charles Adams as president, presided. "Slogan" TURN IT DOWN! the most dangerous drink ever concocted is "One for the road." Turn it down. You'll live longer - and so will the other fellow. GRINNELL W.C.T.U. The November Meeting W.C.T.U. met Nov. 18 at the home of Mrs. Claude Thompson. Mrs. McBlain had devotions. Using scriptures from Job and the Psalms Mrs. Parish assisted her with the reading. Mrs. McBlain urged all not to get discouraged but to "keep on keeping on." The Pres read a letter from Sam Morris relative to his Broadcasts each Monday night over N.B.C. Radio - $5.00 was given for this purpose by the members; no action was taken in regard to the United Fund. It was planned to insert an ad in the local paper as a slogan for the W.C.T.U. Mrs. McBlain was a member of the Committee to see about it. Mrs. Thompson gave the lesson from the study book - "Shadow over America." Mrs. Lynch reviewed a chapter of the second study book "What about beer"? Meeting dismissed with the benediction Nellie Lincoln Sec (this time) "December" The regular monthly meeting met with Mrs. Harlan Inman, with ten members present. Devotions led by Mrs. Adams from Luke 2, 1-20, followed by all singing "Joy to the World." After salute to the flags, the minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Several paid dues - collection $1.30 - our treasurer was absent so no report. Program followed. What have I done for the Union the past year?
