367 and "Why Hurt Yourself" Closed meeting by repeating the benediction, Rachel Mikel, Se'cty. The May meeting of the WCTU was held May 15 at the home of Mrs Claude Thompson, 12 members and one guest present. Following the pledges to the flags. Mrs Iva Saville had the devotions scripture 1 Samuel 1-21-28. She also read a meditation from the Union Signal. Mrs Epler led in prayer: Theme - Belief in our children: also had program on more effectual Home Life Eloise reviewed two chapters from the study book dealing with the story of Daniel and Nabal. Eloise presided over the business session. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Treasurer report given. A copy of the letter sent to the United Grocery was read and members expressed their hearty approval of it's content. A report was given on the sale of the Post a note cards. The next meeting to be the Honorary Members Meeting, and evening meeting June 19 at the home of Lela Adams. The Pres appointed Mrs Epler and Nellie Lincoln to assist Mrs Adams with the refreshments. Members to bring cookies. Mrs Claude Thompson and Mrs Harvey Mikel were appointed by the Pres. as nominating Committee to bring names for officers for next year. Some discussion was held as to what we as 'a union can do regarding the matter of "Liquor by the Drink" which is being advocated by some who are running for office at the Primaries. Meeting closed with prayer by Mrs McBlain Nellie Lincoln, Sec'y Pro Tem. The WCTU met at the home of Nellie & Hazel Lincoln at 3:00, July 17, 1962. The president Eloise Kiester opened the meeting by having the three pledges said by the 20 members present, then she gave an opening prayer. Mrs. H. Sage opened. the devotions by reading John Ch 7, followed by sining "Am. the Beautiful" a meditation was read from the "Union Signal" a prayer closed the devotional period. Mrs Claude Thompson had the program using several leaflets which were passed around "Christians Should Drive Like Christians" and "Isn't it strange" Some facts were read from the "Union Signal" - beer joints are being built faster than churches - What is the the church doing to-day about the liquor problem? Their voices against the problem is not as strong as
