370 Sept. 1962 The W.C.T.U. met at the home of Iva Saville at 2:00 P.M. with 11 members and 1 visitor present. The pledges to the American flag, Christian flag, temperance flag, and the membership flag we repeated in unison. Mrs. Allee challenged us with the though of "Annointing the Elbows." She read the scripture Eph. 6:10-20, and gave thoughts for meditation. Mrs. McBlain led in prayer. Mrs. Headland used as the program theme - "Dimensions in Preparedness." She presented means by which we can do more for the cause of temperance than we have been doing, also an interesting article - "One Door and Only One", and thoughts from a doctor's address on "Prevention of Alcoholism." Mrs. Headland also directed an oral quiz concerning the effects of drinking alcoholic drinks and smoking cigarettes. The minutes of the August meeting were read and approved. The treasurer read her annual report ending Sept 1, 1962 Receipts were $180.63 and disbursements $170.29, leaving a balance on hand (Sept. 1) of $32.69. Motion carried to contribute $5.78 to help the Loyal Temperance Legion in the missionary project of a home for children of alcoholic parents in Greece. Motion also carried to allow the hotel expense for our delegate to the State Convention. The money and credential slip was given to Mrs. Allen who would go as delegate. Others mentioned their desire to attend one day of the convention sessions. The president made known the following appointments - Legislative Dept. - Mrs. Pepoon; program committee, Mrs. Epler; visitation committee, Mrs. Sage; presentation of plays, Mrs. Adams; social service department, Mrs. Thompson. Money was allowed for a subscription to the Union Signal for the legislative department director. We were asked to report our visits at each meeting. The next meeting was announced as Family night. It was decided to purchase 12 temperance song books for boys and girls to be used in the Sunday Schools. A note of thanks from Bertha Ratcliff was read. Mention was made that a W.C.T.U. pin had been pinned on Mrs. Renfrow before her burial. A bill for cards and postage was allowed to Mrs. Niebbel. The offering was received, and the closing prayer offered by Mrs. Headland. Mrs. Ralph Allen, Sec'y. The annual Family night meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held in the basement of the United Presbyterian Church at 6:30 P.M. on Oct. 16. A pot-luck supper was enjoyed by those who came at that time.
