We were reminded that we may use the editor's column in the press. We were advised of the defeat of liquor legislation in Idaho, and what the laws of Norway state concerning those picked up for intoxication. Eloise Keister gave our typewritten instructions for writing to senators concerning the resolution to ban hard liquor in the Senate, and asking them to vote for the resolution. Reports of recent successful efforts of the drys were mentioned. Those present signed a get-well card to be sent to Mrs. Celia Whitely. An offering was received, and dismissal prayer given by Rev. Epler. Mrs. Ralph Allen, Se'cy The W.C.T.U. met on May 21 at the home of Mrs. Claude Thompson, with Eloise Keister presiding. After the flag salutes, Mrs. Thompson presented the devotional theme - "Home, a Magic Word", using the scripture 1 Cor. 13, and the meditation connected this with the thought of love in the home. One verse of "I Need Thee every Hour" was sung and Mrs. McBlain led in prayer. This being Christian Family month, Eloise Keister as program leader, reviewed the pamphlets - "Look to the Household," It's the Brain that Counts" and "You Don't Have to Drink." Minutes were read and approved. Five letters mailed to legislators There were 20 calls on the sick or shut-ins reported Recommended for approval were bills HR 1816 and HR 1961, banning the serving of liquor on plans. The treasurer reported a balance of $28.87., with the need of 14 more budget dollars. The union voted to contribute $1.00 to the Narcotic Education Fund. Mrs. Thompson showed us the bed baskets which had been made, and there was a discussion as there when these should be given. Flower committees were appointed as follows: For June, Nellie Lincoln and Lela Adams; for July, Eloise Keister and Eva Pepoon; for August, Mrs. Mikkel and Mable Morgan. Also appointed to serve as social committee for the next meeting were Nellie Lincoln and Mrs. Epler; and for the nominating committee (to report at July meeting) Mrs. Mikkel and Mrs. Thompson.
