378 Secretary, Mrs. Ralph Allen; Treasurer, Nellie Lincoln. The current petition for local option was discussed and some signed the petition. Lela Adams led in the closing prayer, and especially remembered those who are sick and the family of Iva Saville in their loss. A card was to be mailed to them. Mrs. Ralph Allen, Secy' W.C.T.U. met at the home of Mrs. Harvey Mikkel on Sept 17. Mrs. Mikkel led in the pledges to the flags. Nellie Lincoln had charge of devotions which included song - "O, Master, Let me Walk with Thee", scripture meditation and prayer. Mrs. McBlain led in prayer. Mrs. Mikkel related interesting facts from the home life of Delector Lewis, stressing her prayer life and its influence upon her children and others. Minutes of the August meeting were read and approved. Nellie Lincoln gave the annual report, stating that we had $31.50 in the treasury. We were reminded of the state convention soon to be held in Eagle Grove, and motion was made, seconded and approved to pay expenses of a delegate. Belated birthday wishes were extended to Mrs. McBlain, and we sang the birthday song for her. A discussion of the Family night service followed. Eloise Keister presented a lesson from the study book - "Mind If I Smoke?" A $5.00 thank offering was allowed to be taken to the State convention. The meeting concluded with prayer by Mrs. Thompson. The W.C.T.U. met at the Christian Church for family night supper on Oct. 15. Several guests were also present. After a bountiful meal, Mrs. Mikkel called the meeting to order, and led in the pledges to the flags. The Don Thompson children sang two songs, and the girls played a piano duet and sang. Rev. Coop presented some scriptures and thoughts on abstinence from alcoholic beverages. He also led in prayer. An offering was received. Two filmstrips were shown. They were entitled - "How Free are you?" and "Why do People Drink?" and Why Do People Abstain?" The program was concluded with prayer by Rev. Donald Rich. The W.C.T.U. met on Nov. 19 with Eva Pepoon. Meeting opened with a song. Mabel Morgan led in the devotions on the subject - "Overflowing Cup of Thankfulness." Scriptures from Mal. 3:6-12 and Psa 92
