394 legislative letters reported. Minutes of the Feb. meeting were read and approved. Mention was made of the meeting with the Malcom ladies which was attended by 6 members of our union. We were reminded of the mid-year meeting to be held in Des Moines April 18 & 19. An article on "Invasion or Torch-Bearing" was read in unison. Meeting concluded with repeating of Lord's Prayer. W.C.T.U. met on April 19 until Mrs. George German. There were 14 present, with Eloise Keister presiding. She led in the pledges and Winifred Sevenberger led in devotions with the theme - "Follow the Supreme Commander." Miss Keister had charge of the program which included facts concerning addiction, cost and effect of several narcotics, and laws dealing with their use; articles - "Drinking is Not for the Skies" and "Is Alcohol Food?" Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved. Reported were 34 calls, 33 cards, 3 legislative letters and 5 bouquets of flowers. The treasurer reported a balance of $20.00. Miss Keister read a letter telling us of the area conference to be held in Sully on May 3. Eva Pepoon read an article by the representative of the Bureau of Legislation concerning laws presently under consideration, followed by a discussion of current conditions. Meeting was dismissed with prayer by Mrs. Allen. Grinnell W.C.T.U. met May 17 at the home of Bessie Alexander with 12 members present. Rachel Mikkel led in devotions. Theme was "The Christian Home;" scripture Deut. 6:49, followed with prayer by Bessie Alexander and Rachel Mikkel. Mrs. Claude Thompson presented the program with the theme - "Progress in Heritage." Poems on former days were read by Carol Samman and Mable Morgan. A short discussion on "Has Our Heritage Changed?" Alcohol is the 4th hazard in our nation. We can help by practicing total abstinence in our homes. It isn't necessary to serve liquor at social functions. We should provide our young people with good literature. Will our nation have a new birth in our heritage? The only hope for our nation is to come back to God. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Motion made that we should send in the balance due on our Budget dollars. Motion seconded that the naming of the Nominating committee be left up to the president. Honorary members meeting to be in June with Lela Adams to secure a film for that meeting. Also some flannelgraphs to be secured and used in Vacation Bible School. Carl Sammon
