396 gave her annual report. Motion was made of the coming State Convention. Carol Sammons mentioned bills under consideration in Congress. Several clippings from newspapers were reviewed. It was decided to send a dollar to help with the binding of yearbooks. Lela Adams reports that she had received an acknowledgment of having received the comfort kits at the Veteran's Hospital. Meeting closed with the reading of the Indian version of the 23rd Psalm, and prayer. W.C.T.U. met on Oct. 18 at the First Friends Church with 5 Malcom ladies as our guests. Mrs. Adams led in pledges to the flags. Rev. Leslie Warner had charge of devotions. He read the scripture - 1 Cor. 9:24-27 and spoke on temperance as compared to self-control of an athlete in preparation for a race. He concluded with prayer. Mrs. Adams led us in the song. "America the Beautiful." She then read an article concerning Thanksgiving and harvest. Carol Sammons reported on bills current in the legislature. Mrs. Allen reported on the recent state convention. Nellie Lincoln and Eloise Keister presented a skit comparing fruit drinks with alcoholic drinks. After singing the song - "Blessed Be the Lie," the meeting was adjourned with prayer by Mrs. Allen. Lunch of cookies, mints, tea or coffee was served. W.C.T.U. met with Eva Pepoon on Nov. 15. There were 10 members and one visitor present. After a song, we were led in devotions by Mable Morgan. her subject was "The Sanctity of the Home." She read from 2 Timothy 3:14,15 and Eph. 6:1-4, also a poem. "A Thankful Heart." Lela Adams led in pledges to the flags. Minutes were read and approved. Treasurer reported $38.00 in the treasury. Carol Sammons gave a legislative report concerning drinking liquor aboard ships, and other pending bills. Lela Adams mentioned possible work projects, and related a story of "Lobsters and Monkeys." Program was presented by Mrs. Allen on the theme - "United Gratefulness." Meeting concluded with a general discussion. W.C.T.U. met on Dec. 20 with Eloise Keister. - 9 members present. After pledges to the flags, we were led in devotions by Bessie Alexander. Her subject was "Christian Love," and she read 1 Cor. 13, then led in prayer. She also read the story of Mel Trotter's life. Lela Adams read the meditation on "The Christmas Reality," and "The Drunkard's 23rd Psalm." The treasurer reported $32.00 in the treasury. Minutes of November meeting were read and approved. Carol Sammons reported sending a letter protesting the serving of liquor on coach sections of the airlines, and read the reply she had received. Lela Adams read a letter from Rachel Mikkel, and also a letter she had received from the state president. Some contributed to the bonds for binding W.C.T.U.
