403 She spoke health hazard labels and a bill to prohibit sale of alcoholic beverages to those under 21 years, also a bill to restrict Sunday drinking. After another discussion, the Christian Outreach director made an assignment to observe 9:00 A.M. prayer time. Dismissal with prayer by Mrs. Allen. 1968 W.C.T.U. met at the German home on Jan. 16, with 11 members present. Lela Adams led in devotions. Theme was - "Obligations of Leaders" and scriptures from 2 Chronicles 10-6-17 and James 1:1-5. Nellie Lincoln read a Christmas letter from Mrs. McBlain. Cards were signed to be sent to Nellie Inman, Eloise Keister, Eva Ready, and Mrs. McBlain. Minutes of the Dec. meeting were read and approved. Reported 39 visits and 32 cards sent. A card had been received from "Eyes for the Needy" saying they had received the spectacles, and that they need old jewelry and dentures. Motion was made, seconded, and carried that the usual $14.75 be allowed for the various funds due at this time. Nellie Lincoln reviewed a letter from Sam Morris. He told of the opportunity to broadcast the temperance message during the Texas World's Fair April 6-Oct. 6. It was voted to send $5.00 for this cause. Mrs. Allen reminded us of the 9:00 A.M. time of prayer, and gave our 50 leaflets entitled - "Watch" to be distributed during quarterly temperance Sunday. The possibility of having a booth at the Home Show was considered. In observance of the day (Jan. 16) as W.C.T.U. World Day of Prayer, all stood in a circle and sentence prayers were offered for our cause. Eva Pepoon presented the program, "By Prayer Means" was the theme, stressing the need of laws for the protection of the home, value of family devotions, and an article called - "Growing up Together." She called attention to charts showing the increase in death from diseases caused by smoking. Carol Sammons read excerps from the state president's message relative to these facts. After receiving the offering, meeting was dismissed by the reading of a prayer from the Champion paper. W.C.T.U. met with Mrs. Bailey and Carol Sammons on Feb. 20. Lona Warner presiding. We were led in devotions by Carol Sammons her subject being "Principles to Live By." and the scripture Luke 6:27-30. We read the words of the song - "Frances Willard, we will March." we sang 2 other songs. Minutes were read and approved. Means of providing the budget dollars was discussed. Reported 8 calls, 5 cards sent and 3 legislative letters from which replies received. Eloise Keister reviewed the booklet - "What we can Do about Drug Abuse". Mrs. Warner read a newspaper article which gave the account
