404 of the experience of a youth who was a glue-sniffer. Carol Sammons read an article from the Union Signal telling how we can help our young people. Meeting was dismissed with prayer by Mrs. Allen. W.C.T.U. met with Sybil Renaud on March 19, Lona Warner presiding. After pledges to the flags, Mrs. Warner led in devotions on the subject - "Be Ye Strong," concluding with volunteer prayers and 2 songs. Minutes were read and approved. Reported 12 calls and 20 cards sent. Motion carried that we defer the discussion of plans for obtaining budget dollars. Mrs. Warner presented the lesson on "Preparing for a Great Task." She spoke of building public opinion and of consecration to our task. Articles were read by Bessie Alexander, Mildred McDowell, and Mrs. Allen. These presented the importance of the White Ribbon Recruits, Loyal Temperance Legion, and the Youth Temperance Council Carol Sammons advised us of legislative action and bills pending. She also read an article "What Keeps Teen-Agers from Turning to Alcohol." Meeting closed with prayer by Nellie Lincoln. W.C.T.U. met with Mrs. Thompson on April 16, with 10 present Lela Adams presiding. Winifred Sevenbergen led in devotions on the theme - "Preparing youth for God's Service". We sang - "I Would be True." Scripture read was 2 Chronicles 34:1-3 and Psa. 119:9, followed by meditation and prayer. Minutes were read and approved. A letter from Mr. Plymat's manager was read concerning his nomination and those present signed the petition for his nomination for governor. Decided to order postcards and stationery to sell. Reported 35 calls, and 30 cards sent. Marie Thompson had charge of the program. She read a Christian character acrostic and articles - "My Faith in Prayer" - "Doomed to be Drunk" and a poem - "Are All the Children In?" Lela Adams led in devotions, Scripture was Prov. 4:1-4 also Prov. 6:20-23, followed by meditation and prayer. We sang the White Ribbon Rally song. Rachel Mikkel had the program. Theme was "Early Training." She mentioned that May 5-12 was Family Week. Eloise Keister read an article - "Torch Bearing." Nellie Lincoln read - "The Beattitudes for Women." She reported $23.00 in treasury but that we are behind on budget dollars. The stationery and cards were distributed. Reported 28 calls and 22 cards sent.
