405 Carol Sammons reported on the conference which several had attended at Oskaloosa in April. Mention was made that Mr. Plymat is on W.H.O. Sunday nights at 9:45. Carol Sammons gave a report on alcohol, the different ways it is used and the terrible results. After singing, "It's On my Other Dress," the meeting was dismissed with prayer by Lela Adams. - Mabel Morgan, Sec'y pro-tem. Met with Rachel Mikkel at 7:30 on Tues. June, 18, 1968. Opened with flag salutes, then sang - "This is My Father's World." Leslie Warner led the devotions, using Mark 10:35-45 and meditations from the Union Signal for June on "Wayside Ministry." Chairman gave some thoughts from Union Signal on "Tranqiulity Brings Assurance." Harvey Mikkel read leaflet on 'Gateways to Peace." We then viewed 2 filmstrips with record about LSD and Glue Sniffing. Eight people saw these and 15 people saw the same at Sun. evening young people's meeting at the 1st. Friend's Church. Cookies and koolade were served at the social hour. Rachel Mikkel, pres. The nominating committee is Mabel Morgan, chairman Nell Inman Mrs. M. Harris. W.C.T.U. met with Nellie Lincoln on July 16 at 3:00 P.M Carol Sammons had charge of devotions from Luke 16:10 and Luke 19:2-26. Her theme was - "Being True to our Trust." Mildred Jones presented the program. Her topic was - "A Patriot's Loyalty." A flag quiz followed. An article - "Taste of New Wine" was reviewed. Minutes for May and June were read and approved. Report of nominating committee was read and accepted as follows: President, Rachel Mikkel; Co-Pres. - Lela Adams, 1st Vice Pres - Mrs Warner, 2nd. Vice Pres. - Eloise Keister, Treasurer, Nellie Lincoln, Recording Secretary, Mrs. Allen. Treasurer reported $15, and the budget money had been sent in. Motion was carried that Nellie Lincoln send money for all new program materials needed and renewal of the Union Signal subscription. Mrs. Allen reported that she had conducted 3 D.V.B.S's and presented temperance to 125 students. A motion carried to re-imburse Mrs Mikkel for the cost of the use of the filmstrips seen at the June meeting. Reported 30 cards sent, 45 calls made and 13 bouquets given. Meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. Harris, after which we enjoyed a pot-luck supper. W.C.T.U. met with Mildred Jones on Aug. 20, with 8 present and Mrs. Mikkel presiding. After flag salutes, we sang, "I Would be True." Rachel Mikkel led in devotions on the theme - "God's Command to Teach." Scripture was Deut. 6:1-9. Program
