407 The W.C.T.U. met with Lela Adams Nov. 19 with 6 members present. Eloise Kiester led in devotions reading from Deut. 20:15-20. Her theme was "A Charge to Keep." Following flag salutes, the business meeting was taken up. In the absence of our recording secretary, no minutes were read. The president brought up the matter of securing white ribbon boxes for each member, as next year's dues will be raised to $3.65. Treasurer reported $36.00 in the treasury. For the legislative part, Mrs. Pepoon reported on some of the proceedings of the 90th congress. 23 calls, 15 cards and 2 letters were reported. Mrs. Jackson had the program. Theme was "Forward with Faith". Meeting closed with singing a verse from "God Be With You." and the W.C.T.U. benediction. - Nellie Lincoln, Sec'y Pro-tem W.C.T.U. met with Eloise Keister on Dec. 17, 1968, with 6 present. After a song, Lela Adams led in devotions with a Christmas scripture and meditation. Minutes of the October and Nov. meetings were read and approved. Reported were 59 calls and 23 cards. We were told that the "Action Ahead" contest had scored a total of 750 points. The winning team, directed by Mrs. Allen, had scored 340 points. Two new honorary members had joined during the contest. It was decided to have roll calls and the Jan. roll call was to be answered by New Year's resolutions. Marie Thompson presented the program, featuring the youth Temperance Council and a discussion of youth problems followed Carol Sammons reviewed the Washington Letter. After the pledges to the flags, a circle was formed and we sang "Blessed Be the Tie" and repeated the benediction. 1969 No January meeting. W.C.T.U. met at the home of Myrtle Bailey on Feb. 18. Carol Sammons led in the devotions on the subject - "A Standard of Purity." We sang "I Would be True." Pledges to the flags were recited. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Treasurer reported a balance of $34.00 Motion made and carried to allow the usual special funds to be sent as designated. The amount of $2.00 was also allowed for the Grinnell museum in memory of Eva Ready and Addie Taylor. Plans were made for the area conference to be held in Grinnell in April or May. Marie Thompson and Mildred McDowell will have charge of registration. Mentioned we could expected 30-50 people. Special registration tags should be prepared. To help with the advertising, the following committees were named: Postcard committee: Nellie Lincoln. She should notify the ministers of the area by postcards.
