411 W.C.T.U. met with Eva Pepoon Sept. 16 with 7 members present. Meeting opened with pledges to the flags. Fae Allen led in devotions on the subject - "Launch Out." Minutes of the August meeting were read and approved. It was approved. It was reported that a number had already paid dues. Nellie Lincoln read the annual treasurer's report with a balance of $15.21. Two bags had been filled for the soldiers in Viet Nam. Means of finance were discussed. It was decided to bring our birthday offerings, beginning with this Sept. Plans were made for attending the State Convention. Lela Adams was to be the delegate. Mable Morgan presented the program. Topic was "Motivation." Mrs German reported on an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting she had attended. Meeting was dismissed by forming a circle to sing - "God Be with you," and Mrs. Allen concluded with prayer. W.C.T.U. met with Lela Adams on Oct. 21. Mrs. Adams led in devotions and pledges. Minutes of Sept. meeting were read and approved. Carol Sammons and Lela Adams reported on the State Convention. A letter acknowledging receipt of the ditty bags for veterans was read. Nellie Lincoln presented the program. Carol Sammons gave the legislative report. A discussion of current conditions followed. There were 31 visits, 16 cards and 7 bouquets reported. Efficiency points were reviewed. Meeting was dismissed by repeating the Aaronic benediction. The W.C.T.U. met Nov. 18, 1969, with Mrs. George German with 6 ladies in attendance. Following the pledges to the Flags the devotions were given by Mable Morgan the theme A charge to keep I have. The business session was taken up Lela Adams presiding but no minutes were available. As Fae Allen is moving to Charles City Carol Sammon was named to serve as recording secy. The President read a letter from our State Pres asking we write, Senator Moss of Utah urging him to filibuster to prevent passage of bill H.R. 6543 a cigarette bill, and also asking we write out Representatives and Senator (Miller and Hughes) asking them to support a filibuster on the Cigarette Bill, and asking them to vote against it's passage. It was decided we should secure the film, "trip or trap" for use in the church some evening in Jan. Eloise Keister had the program on L.S.D. The meeting closed by all Joining hands, and singing a Verse of Blest be the tie that Binds. Nellie Lincoln Sec pro tem.
