414 July 21, 1970 The W.C.T.U. met in the home of Nellie and Hazel Lincoln. The meeting was opened by the President Lela Adams. We read in union, Back to God America." and then gave our three flag salutes. The devotions, were God in a Nation's Life. We sang Am. the Beautiful: Next the secretary's report was read and approved. There were no legislative letters sent. Our pres. read a letter from Cecil Roberts about getting the liquor bill H.R. 8388out of committee. Write to: Harley O. Staggers House Office Bldg. Wash. D.C. 20515 Nellie Lincoln, the treasurer has sent for the new supplies. People on the nominating committee for new officers are: Mildred Jones, Eloise Keister and Nellie Lincoln No bills reported. We have $26.00 in our treasury. The treasurer will subscribe for a few new Champions. we now have just 23 member Some dropped out of the W.C.T.U. others passed away a few have moved. Patriotism and Our Heritage' was the report given by Mildred Jones. Is our country as good as it seems? Carrie Nation said, "I'm a soldier of the Cross' We need much 'adult education. We need the Savior to help us" I've done what I can. Mrs. Pepoon said that years ago she and her girlfriend took Carrie Nation to lunch Nellie Lincoln read a fine report about Carrie Nation who went to jail for breaking filled beer and whiskey bottles. We closed with our song "Till we Meet Again." Eloise dismissed us with a prayer. Aug. 10, 1970 - Last evening on the 5:00-5:30 news from K.R.N.J, LV there were interesting pictures of the fine work that the W.C.T.U. is doing. It showed pictures of Frances E Willard, and our Nat. Pres. Mrs [Toozo?] Told of Carrie nation.
