420 The W.C.T.U. was held in the home of Mrs. Myrtle Bailey with seven members present The meeting was opened by the vice pres. Lela Adams We gave our three flag pledges. Nellie Lincoln gave the devotions. The scripture was from Acts. We have to be told many times what we need to know and remember. What about Peter? God is no respector of persons. 90% believe there is a God but some do nothing about it. Nellie Lincoln and Carol Sammon put their birthday money in the W.C.T.U. birthday bank The secretary's report was read and two corrections were made. One that we sent $2.00 into the state in memory of Marie Thompson The other was that we take a special collection for the legislative work which was $5.25 and add to it the $3.00 yearly fund, which totaled $8.25. Nellie has sent a legislative letter Our president Lela Adams read a letter from the national pres. Mrs. Tooze that some officials wants to give our soldiers beer to drink with their evening meal. We want no beer sold at beer bards or at post exchanges. We are to write to Pres. Richard Nixon Admiral Elmo Zumwalt and General Wm Westmorland all addressed Wash., D.C. that favor no beer for the soldiers anywhere, Nellie Lincoln report that there is $34.00 in the treasury no bills - Collection was taken. Mrs Myrtle Bailey gave many cards she had [fixed?] for unfortunate children in other countries. She gave one dollar too, for the postage. We discussed making bibs for the veterans at Knoxville, Iowa. Fidelia made a motion that we send $2.00 to the National Treasurer to be used to buy red geraninums to help beautify the Willard House We closed our meeting by singing a religious song and the dismissal prayer by Lela Adams Secretary - Carol I. Sammon
