421 March 16, 1971 Our W.C.T.U. met in the home of vice Eloise Keister Adams with nine members and one visitor present. Our opening song was "I Would be True." and then we gave our three flag pledges. Mildred Jones' devotions were in Amos VI. Amos said "Seek good and not evil." Hate sin but love the sinner. Secretary's report was read with one correction made. Nellie Lincoln put money into the bank instead of Lela Adams. This months birthday money was put into the bank by Fidelia German and Mildred Jones Our treasurer reported $35.00 in our treasury. We discussed voting against Sunday sales of beer in Iowa. Mable Morgan read a letter from Mr. Miller saying that beer isn't available for soldiers in combat areas. She also read one to us from President Nixon's assistant about our interest, in the soldiers not drinking beer, Nellie Lincoln read her letter from Mr. Kyl. He said that service men not used to "hard drinks' would probably not buy it Out society thought that those who did buy liquor or use it might have a bad influence on the young people who didn't use it. Lela Adams read a poem about a little boy whose mother was killed in an auto wreck by a drunken driver. His father took his picture when he was visiting his mother's grave. Lela then gave a skit about Mrs. Agitator, Mrs. Spectator, Ematator, Mrs Dictator and Mrs. Meditator. Mrs Meditator is the one who asks God for guidance. The "ator" family was made from potatoes with their appropriate clothes. Mildred Harris gave in her report that parents should tell children, about the bad effects of alcohol. Judgment and reasoning are hindered. It is some of our business if people drink liquor. We had 29 called to "shut ins" and sent 18 cards, 44 letters and two legislative letters. Four flowers were sent to relatives or friends Our closing song was "I need thee Every hour." Mildred Harris dismissed us with prayer. At the close of our meeting Lela Adams served delicious ice cream floats. Sec. - Carol I. Sammon
