425 Aug. 17, 1971 Grinnell, Iowa W.C.T.U. Our meeting opened in the home of Mildred Jones. We sang "Oh Master Let me Walk with Thee." Nellie Lincoln's devotionals were 'Law Essential to Liberty". She read Psalms I and CXIX. Many people think these are the most beloved in the Bible. God's people see themselves in these passages. Next we had our American, Christian and Temperance flag salutes.We sent 28 cards, 1 letter and made 17 calls. The president announced that Iowa people had made their quota for our guest who attended the World Con. in Chicago The treasurer reported $37.00 in the treasurery. The minutes were read and approved. Our pres. Eloise Keister said that we should try to attend the state W.C.T.U. Conv. in Knoxville, Iowa which will be held Oct. 4,5 and 6 at the First United Methodist Church. Motion was made and approved that we send $5.00 to the state W.C.T.U. headquarters for repairs which they need on the building. The Knoxville Veterans need bibs, scuffies, lap robes. Mildred Jones said that she would send cookies. Eloise will give interesting books to read. Eloise read an appropriate poem for Mrs. Foster, "Into the City of Light. Mrs. Foster one of our former member passed away recently The nominating committee asked the same officers to hold over for one more year. Each one approved. Lela Adams had charge of the lesson which was about Community Action. People who want Good Gov't must work for it. Critics and opponents keep working Alcohol is a poison to young peoples minds. Many will die if they pick up a cocktail glass and finish the contents of it. Liquor stores would destroy churches if they could. Churches could destroy liquor stores if they would. Mildred Jones said that 21 girls have been sent to Michellville so far this year. Only 12 boys have been sent to Eldora these first 7 months. Closing prayer was by Mildred JOnes and we all sang "Blest be the Tie" Sec. Carol I. Delicious refreshments were served by our Norwegian
