430 May 16, 1972 (5) The W.C.T.U. met in the home of Mildred Jones on this beautiful day, with seven members present. The president Eloise Keister led us in the American, Christian, and Temperance flag salutes. Devotions by Eva Pepoon were "The Roots of Character, Mrs. Wesley mother of 18 children had time to pray and read the Bible to her family. John Wesley became the father of Methodism. Charles Wesley wrote many famous hymns. Program leads was Mildred Harris. Mour have been killed by alcohol here in the U.S. than have been killed by the war in Vietnam Japan has a device used in autos which won't start if drunks try to drive. Her assistan Mildred Jones said that in 1968 $72.08 was spent on the average, for liquor for each woman, man and child. Alcohol even hurts the unborn child. Her other assistant Nellie Lincoln, read that most women between the age of 40 and 45 are the greatest alcoholics There were 31 calls made and four letter and 15 cards sent. Secretary's report was read and approved, Our state convention will be in Sioux Center north east of Sioux City. The meeting will be from Sept. 25-27, 1972. The collection taken was $5.65. Mable Morgan is up some but uses the electreo pad often. Myrtle Bailey wasn't able to attend but sent her collection money. Eloise closed the meeting with two wonderful prayers for "Mothers". One was written by Joan Summer and the other [oxe?] by Peter Marshal. The hostess Mildred Jones served delicious rhubarb pie, coffee and iced tea to Eloise Keister, Fedilia German, Eva Pepoon Nellie Lincoln, Mildred Harris and Carol Sammon Pres. Eloise Keister Sec.
