Mrs. Bruck spoke to us of Moral Education in the Public Schools. She said if we would have strong and beautiful characters in adult life, certian elemental virtues must be inculcated in child hood and youth. Among the elemental virtues we woul include those which are generally accepted as forming the very basis of character, such as obedience, kindness, honor, truthfulness, cleanliness, cheerfulness, honesty, respect for self and for others, usefulness, patriotism, self control. These are the virtues of good character and ideal citizenship. It is not sufficient to have some iea of these virtues, but the child should be trained in practice of them until they become fixed habits. Rev. Wilson spoke of Morals in Public and Social Life. He said that the basis of character building is truthfulness honesty, purity, and right acting. As it is imposible for parents to be with their children all of the time outside of school hours, something must be introduced into their lives to counteract the evil they may see or hear while outside the school or home.
