138 On Feb. 20, 1923 the W. C T. U. met at Mrs. J. B. Heisels home. There was an attendance of 20+. Rev. Carmen led the devotionals, emphasizing the unlimited value of prayer. Prayer will solve many problems that the human efforts can not reach. We must pray much that Gods sustaining power will control every good purpose. Prayer was offered by the pastor and singing that touched on the results of prayer. After the devotionals Mrs [illegible] Hamilton was called on to report on the proceedings of the program committee. She reported that the programs were ordered and received ready for distribution a bill of $2.25 was presented and order issued from the same. The city administration was discussed and endorsed and it was agreed that the union would support the reelection of some parties holding offices [or?] those who stand firm for the [sight?]. Correspondents were read concerning the books for C.S.U. . The union agreed to donate books to this schools. Mrs. Kearney suggested we send Mrs. Brande a shower of cards on her birth day March 4 - 1923. She being charter member & 86 years old. The market day was decided to be left with Miss Jennie Baily who would plan and make necessary arrangements. Mrs. McGuin moved we send $6 for the prize to be given on the S. [illegible] essay [illegible]. Motion seconded and carried. It was decided to make a new prize offer to the one making the best poster, illustrating temperance work. Mrs. Kearney moved that we purchase six year books. It was seconded and
