letter that if I wished any money this Spring I should send by Mr Stevens, so long as I retain my health I hope I shall never have to trespass upon your generosity again, I am not in want of any money this spring & believe my own exertions will support me in as good state as I wish to live, I have made a contract for an office which will be put up next month to rent for three years & I can pay most of the rent in my own way. I have just got a new suit of clothes & paid for them by entering up two Judgments by confession for Mr Ellsworth & in a small note I had against a man here, so that you see I am as well off as I could have any reason to expect John Merritt paid his money for his farm a has got a deed and is well satisfied he has not had but one case of assault & battery as yet. I want that William should [ink blot] I find out what property Benj. Knickerbocker has, he says he has a right in his fathers estate which fell to him by the death of his sister who was dumb. he owes me about ten dollars & will give me a power of attorney to sell it & receive the money. he can probably find out by Nic. Pulver. I called to see Neely and got many a fair promise of payment in the fall his neighbors say he can pay & I agreed if he would pay the Interest in six weeks I would wait till fall, six weeks is past but no pay. I shall send by Stevens, & if he does nothing about it shall prosecute it - I will write again shortly I am Your affectionate Son Henry Eno
