Camanche Feb 8th 1862 Dear Sister Climene I will now take the opportunity of writing you a few lines to inform you of how we are prospering in Iowa. I have not much to write there is nothing going on of importance here. We are all well as usual and enjoying ourselves as well as can be expected. I am any way. I attend school in Iowa and go from home and think some of going all summer if there is a good school we have a first rate school now it is just half out. I attend singing school twice a week. There is more parties and lectures and Concerts Spelling schools etc. then there was to the East. Our sinhschool is out next week but then there is to be one in town which I think I should attend. Climene it is so long ago since I heard from you we began to think you cared but very little whether we heard from you or not this makes twice I have written to you and received no answer. I shall expect to receive an answer from this as soon as you receive it. Climene I must till you how much we have done in the line of bedclothes you remember my old [Delaim] dress we have quilted that and it makes a beautiful Comfortable and I have got my pink calico dress nearly [pieced] up with white like your red quilt and my beggars quilt is nearly done I have been knitting me an Iowa Collar I will send you you one like it you may think it it is rather long but it crosses in front and I think they are very pretty for every day they save washing and doing up Dear Sister Climene and Henry mathers has got so many hens that they lay all Winter they eat their eggs up for the next day Catherin is curling [plarene] hair it curles quite well it [illeg] {illeg]
